Waking up early is a pain, but when you put in the effort, you realize how much more time you have and how they can put to much better use. And yes, I would agree it does keep you energetic throughout the day, your mind sharp and focused.

I love to wake up early in the morning, as it is quiet and peaceful, gives me a headstart for my work. I am calm and cool during the day, as all my tasks have been completed according to my plan. Secondly, early morning is the best time to observe beautiful things, like the birds chirping, the sun rising etc. I prefer to get up early in the morning, and even on weekends my alarm goes off early, though I set it 15 minuted late than what I set during weekdays. I believe in the saying, "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.

Even if the advice for waking up early is a little off topic, I think it is good advice for people in any field. If you wake up at the same time it gets your body into a rhythm and as you get used to it you will feel more awake and productive. I think that it's admirable that you are sticking to it, I imagine it is difficult. But I think the way you are going about it is the right one by letting your body telling you when to go to bed. Thank you for the advice!

A very great read and an interesting perspective. I myself am a avid sleeper and have been absorbing as much information as possible about sleeping. Like Lucid Dreaming(which is possible I found out) and also how taking a nap between 10 minutes to 20 minutes every day helps you're body go to sleep at night and re energizes you!

The biggest trick is to nap around the same time of day everyday. You're body is a very adaptive machine and will after time, wish you did nap at that time every day. Never nap over 20 minutes though! Or else it may disrupt you're sleep cycle and especially the all-important R.E.M. cycle(Dreaming)

I really do need to try this approach to the start of my day. I have a 14 month old son and I could sure use more energy. Along with getting up early should come a good morning routine. I think I'll make it a New Year's resolution!

Now that you mention it, I really do think I tend to be less stressed during the day when I wake up VERY early. By all means, I am not a morning person & it takes every effort in my body to get up @ a decent time. But thinking back on the times that I have gotten up before sunrise, I do feel better throughout the day.. I need to take advantage of the mornings. Thanks.

You never know how much you are missing in life until you start getting up early and you learn how much in can change your life and outlook on the world. Even if its tough start by getting up a half hour earlier each day until you finally are waking up with the sun, you will be surprised on how much more you can accomplish, and gow your viewpoint of the world around will change to a more positive one. great info, thanks

When I was a working evening student, my default productive hours was from afternoon to 2 am. After classes ended at 10 pm, I still had to study for the next day. This meant that my mornings were spent in a haze, just trying to recover from my punishing schedule last night. When I graduated, my body kept reverting to that schedule. However, since I didn't have classes anymore, the midnight hours were spent surfing and watching movies, and ending up too stimulated for sleep. Not really productive.

I agree with what you said about "I have noticed the few times I managed to get up prior to the sun I always seem more energetic throughout the day and even seem to function better mentally and physically." I'm trying harder to let go of my old habits and embrace new ones.

Wow! thanks a lot. This gives me a whole new perspective on mornings. I usually hate waking up early, but now i realize it's because I don't give myself enough time to collect myself. Instead I'm always in a rush and in a mission. I will definitely take this blog into my personal life.
